SPHINX ABSTRACT
The Sphinx, the oldest and largest monolithic stone sculpture in the world is found in Egypt. A woman’s head was carved on the body of a lion before recorded history began. Its insertion on Egyptian zodiacs indicates the beginning point in the circle of constellations: as in the sculpture, Virgo (woman) represents the beginning and Leo (lion) the end. Definitions of constellation and star names reveal meaning in a story or narrative. By creating and naming them, God is the undisputed author of the celestial story. Constellations and stars are prioritized in Genesis 1.14: “and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,” (NIV) – sacred times being more significant than seasons, days and years. This is not mythology – it’s truth.
